All about microdermabrassion
Microdermabrassion Quickly exfoliates the skin and is great for a quick rejuvenation.
Exfoliation is the process of removing these dead skin cells and debris and improving the superficial texture of the skin.
The Microdermabrasion is a safe, common, non-surgical procedure.
It remove a very superficial portion of the skin, usually just the stratum corneum top most layer This can be done through a number of different methods and techniques. Some microdermabrasion devices utilize abrasive paddles or crystals (silica or aluminum oxide particle) that are passed along the surface of the skin with a suction hand piece which removes the dead skin layer. Other methods use creams with abrasive particulates that are rubbed onto the skin.
Microdermabrasion is effective at improving and reducing fine lines, age spots or brown spots, and other superficial skin blemishes. The treatment can also be helpful with oily and enlarged pores, blackheads, and some acne scarring.
Microdermabrasion stimulates the production of collagen and cell turnover. Immediately following a microdermabrasion session the skin will feel smoother, tighter and have improved texture.
The typical session for microdermabrasion takes between 15 and 30 minutes.Number of sessions depends on the different skin problems that are to be treated .
Following any microdermabrasion treatment it is important to use sunscreen at least SPF 30 as the skin is usually very sensitive to sun exposure.
Moisturizing the skin is very helpful as the microdermabrasion session will dry the skin temporarily.
People who should avoid it:
People with active herpes lesions, active acne or rosacea, open sores or lesions, dermatitis, psoriasis, people using Acutance within the last 6 months, eczema and lupus should not have microdermabrasion.Always consult a dermatologist before having microdermabrassion.
About At-Home Kits
Microdermabrasion home kits usually contain two basic components: an abrasive cream or scrub, and a buffing or massage tool for application. The cream in these kits contains the same aluminum oxide crystals that are used in professional microdermabrasion techniques, although the concentration, application, and cream ingredients may vary.
Home kits should always be spot-tested on a small area of skin first, as some products can cause excessive redness, damage, irritation, or allergic reaction. No course of treatment will be as effective as one designed specifically for you by an expert skin care professional
